Israel- Hezekiah's Tunnel

Our next stop was to Hezekiah's Tunnel and the Pool of Shiloam. Hezekiah's Tunnel was originally dug to bring water from Gihon Spring to the Pool of Shiloam. Gihon Spring was located outside the original city walls, so when the city was under sedge, Hezekiah's Tunnel would bring the water from Gihon Spring into the city to the Pool of Shiloam. Currently the spring is still running, people don't necessarily drink the water any more, but you can walk through the tunnel and it's still running with water. The tunnel was dug by hand, so it was narrow in some areas and short in some areas. It was also dark inside. So we had to walk through with flash lights. At one point we decided to stop and turn off the lights, it was pitch black inside. The water was warmer than I thought it was going to be, so it wasn't really too bad to go walking through. The water at it's deepest was about knee high. It took us about 45 minutes to walk through the tunnel and ended at the Pool of Shiloam. There is a little section where the water is, but there is also a larger section of the Pool of Shiloam which is being excavated (like so many other parts of Jerusalem).
