I'm so excited!!!!

ULTIMATE FRIBEE STARTS UP AGAIN TONIGHT!!! During last summer I played with a group that played every Thursday night... we've kind of been on a break since last October (we've played once or twice, but not very often). And we are finally starting up again... so there goes my Thrusday nights... but it's so much fun! We usually end up playing for a couple hours and even though it's hot outside it feels great to be outside running around. Here's to more hot nights chasing a glowing disc!

My need... to always be busy!

So I came to the realization this week that I have a somewhat crazy need to always have something to do. I was talking with a co-worker who finds pleasure in the fact that I am never at home, but always out doing things... It made me stop and think about things. Well let's see... every morning I get up way to early to go to the gym. From there most of my time is spent at work. Then for the evenings: Mondays is FHE... Tuesdays I'm at the hospital... Wednesdays I need to start studying for the PE... Thursdays I've been playing softball... Fridays I usually find something to do, whether it be softball, baseball games, traveling something... Saturdays I usually have projects around the house... that leaves Sundays which are spent at church and relaxing around the house. Honestly I think I carried it over from school... for any of you who knew me when I was at school I was ALWAYS busy, and I guess I just don't know how to slow down. So I guess I am pretty busy, but that's my life and I love it.

Home Depot is my favorite store...

So I don't know weither home ownership is a good thing for me or not. I love finding projects to do around the house. And I guess the worst part is that the closest Home Depot is less than a mile away... it's actually just across the street. So the project I've been working on for the past couple of weeks is putting handels on my kitchen cabnets. It's been a good project, but it's finally done. Here are some pictures of the completed project.

Well until the next project...

D'backs Game

So after living in Arizona for 2 years I have fianlly made it to a Diamondbacks baseball game. I can't say that I'm a huge baseball fan, but a game evey once in a while is fun.

I got the tickets from work and decided to invite a group of friends to come with me. The Diamondbacks play at a really nice stadium called Chase Field. Living in Arizona during the summer means that the temperature dosen't drop below 100 until well after dark, so the stadium was closed when the game started at 6:40. And the stadium is also air conditioned... a huge bill I'm sure, but it does feel good.
The game was against the Los Angles Dodgers. The first three innings of the game were pretty exciting... we looked like we were going to take it. After the third inning we didn't score again, so I kept busy by trying to figure out what all the number (statistics) on the board were for. I really don't know anything about baseball, so I was constantly asking my neighbors what everything ment... Yes I'm that girl who goes to the game and what's to know what's going on, but doesn't have a clue. (Don't get me wrong I understand the general game, but not all the numbers.)

I think that the only way that I made it through the game was because my friends were there with me. The Dodgers ended up tying the game in the top of the 8th inning pushing us into a longer game. After 11 innings (8 of which were scoreless for the Dbacks) we were ready to be done, so when the Dodgers scored a home run in the 11th inning we were so excited. (I know I should be cheering on my team, but like I said I don't really care about baseball.)
All I really wanted to see were the fire works. So remember how I said the stadium had a closed roof for the game, well they had to open it for the fire works. It's pretty impressive to see them open the roof. It really onlt took about 10 minutes if even. (It's funny that I get excited for the engineering stuff...)

Well the fire works were well worth the 11 inning game, they were really good! It was a fun time, and know I can say I've been to Chase Field.

The best trip to the Grand Canyon ever!

So I actually heard about this last year when I went up to the Grand Canyon with my family. There is a photography workshop up at the Grand Canyon during the month of July. The workshop is put on by Canon. So I got a group to go up with me. I talked some wonderful girls into tagging along with me. (Thanks guys) We all went up and for the workshop they give you a digital SLR camera to use during the class. That was enough to make me happy, I just love using the camera and having a little more control of the picture. They took us out to take pictures and give some lessons on how to use the camera. They will send us the pictures in a couple weeks, so as soon as I get them I'll post some. Until than I'll post some that I took on my camera.

The class was in the morning put in the afternoon we spent walking around the South Rim Village of the Grand Canyon.

We went up Friday night, but didn't get there until after midnight, becuase we hit some bad traffic on the road (a 3 1/2 hour trip turned into a 6 1/2 trip). Thank goodness for good company. When we got in we set up camp and went to bed. I forgot how much I love camping.

The next morning we woke up and headed off to the class. We spent the morning taking pictures. A thounderstorm blew in during the afternoon, which made for some beautiful clouds. The thing I hate is that pictures just don't do justice, but I was trying to capture the sun light coming through the clouds.

We ended up leaving Saturday night because it was raining too hard. It was beautiful! And I love using the nice camera... I think they do it so you want to buy one. Well it got me thinking about it. Maybe someday. ;)

If you want to see more of the pictures that I took with my camera feel free to check them out here. http://picasaweb.google.com/shelly.mcconnell/71208GrandCanyon

Well I've Finally Given In...

Well after seeing everyone else blogs, I decided that it's a good way to keep in touch with people and a fun way to see what people are up to. Plus this way I won't have to send out emails to everyone. If you are interested in knowing what's up with me then just log in and find out.
