Glass Museum in Tacoma

So just in case you thought that I'd had enough of Dale Chihuly when we were down in Tacoma. It was the first stop along the trip on Friday morning. There wasn't a sunny blue sky, but everything was still really cool to see. We actually just looked at the exhibits that were outside the museum, because according to Austin those were the best ones anyways. There are so many really cool things that can be done with glass. There was a whole exhibit of glass vases.

This is a warning...

So I told you that I was excited about my new camera right. Well prepare yourselves, because this last weekend when I was in Seattle I took 214 pictures. Of course that's before editing out all the not so good ones (and I won't be posting ALL of them here), but get ready to see lots of pictures in the next week. As long as I actually get around to labeling them and getting them up. Like I said this is just a warning!

It's Official

So as of yesterday it's official. I can now add two letters to the end of my name P.E. Which for those of you who are outside the engineering world means. Shelly McConnell, Professional Engineer!

This also means that that 13 weeks of waiting is now over!

Glass & Nature

So this last weekend I got to use my camera for the first time. My friend Brennan (who is also into photography) asked if I wanted to go down to the Desert Botanical Garden to check out an exhibit they have there. The exhibit is called Chihuly: The Nature of Glass. The Desert Botanical Garden is all outside, which means that the exhibit that was all outside. The one of the benefits of living in Arizona. The weather is nice enough to have art exhibits outside. It was actually a really cool exhibit so here are some of the pictures that I took. I think that what the artist Dale Chihuly does with glass is so amazing. I'm not sure if I like the exhibit better at night or during the day. We both had a great time and enjoyed taking millions of pictures. I guess that's the good thing about having a friend who enjoys photography as much as I do, because that means every time (every 10 seconds) that I stop to take another picture he doesn't get annoyed. Anyways if you want to see more pictures click here. If you ever get the chance to see his work you should definitely see it.

If my life was a musical

So sometimes you now there are those songs that when you hear them you just want to say "Hey how are you writing about my life!" Well I've recently found a song that I love the words to... and it seemed to express how I feel in so many ways. So if my life were a musical here are some of the song that would be playing....

- "Gotta Be Somebody" by Nickelback

- "Over You" by Diamond Rio

-"Better in Time" by Leonia Lewis

-"Livin' It Up" by Josh Gracin

-"God's Been Good To Me" Keith Urban

-"Feels Like Today" Rascal Flats

It's kind of a random mix... but I guess that's pretty good at describing my life too!

Weekend Project

So this weekends projects was new for me. For Christmas I got a night stand and book shelf for my room that I had to stain. I wanted to stain them to match the bed board that I got from my parents. Recently my parents got a new bed and so they no longer needed the headboard... so since I didn't have one I claimed it. Staining is a new thing for me... it was quite the process. First you have to stain one coat... than another coat... then two coats of varnish. Here is the end result of the book shelf.
Here is the night stand and the headboard.
This is the other project that I worked on this weekend... I got a peg board so that I could organize all the tools in my garage. It's so nice to have an organized garage.

Lovely winter weather...

I love that it's 70 degrees in the winter here... sometimes I forget that it is the winter.
